Exhibition of "O cante da terra" at FCUL

The movie "O canto da terra", was shown at FCUL on the 18th November 2013. It was presented by Eng. Pedro Teixeira (Director Geral de Agricultura e Desenvolvimento Rural), Professor Doutor António Sá Fonseca (Sub-Director da Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa), Professora Doutora Margarida Santos-Reis (Presidente do Centro de Biologia Ambiental da FCUL), Engº Henrique Gama (Coordenador do Projecto da Direção de Ambiente da Somincor) and by Doutora Cristina Branquinho (coordenadora Científica do Projecto da FCUL).

IUFRO 2013 International Conference: best poster award

Cristina Branquinho and Alice Nunes participated in the IUFRO conference ““Vegetation Response to Climate Change and Air Pollution – Unifying Evidence and Research across Northern and Southern Hemisphere” with the presentation “Searching for early-warning indicators of global change: nitrogen pollution and climate change” and the poster “Plant functional response to desertification in semi-arid Mediterranean woodlands”. The poster received an award as the best poster presentation.

Activities - Rota da Biodiversidade

The "Rota da Biodiversidade" is a a circular path with 14 km, from Monsanto to the Tejo river, sponsored by the city hall (Câmara Municipal de Lisboa). Members of CBA-ESFE participated on the creation of this Biodiversity route in Lisbon.

Project GISA - Gestão Integrada de Saúde e Ambiente (2008-2011)
Project featuring CBA-ESFE members, within a regional scale (Alcácer do Sal, Grândola, Santiago do Cacém, Sines e Odemira). Aims at implementing an integrated space and time air-quality information system, in order to monitorize, evaluate and alert to environmental hazard situations, to health, in the Alentejo coastal areas. It is a multidisciplin project with specialists from human health, environment, engeneering and sociology.

O ICNB, a UNCCD e a LPN, no âmbito do Ano Internacional da Biodiversidade, no quadro do Programa de Acção Nacional de o Combate à Desertificação e comemorando o 18 aniversário da criação do Parque Natural do Vale do Guadiana (18 de Novembro de 1995) promovem uma jornada de reflexão centrada na sistematização do
conhecimento existente sobre biodiversidade de zonas semi-áridas e actualização de propostas de actuação.

12º Encontro Nacional de Ecologia - Serviços dos Ecossistemas: desafios e ameaças num mundo em mudança.

This National Ecology meeting gathered the participation of several CBA-ESFE members, either with posters, oral presentations and even in the organisation through our SPECO members. It took place in Porto from 18th to 20th of October 2010. Check out what happened.

Manual for the restoration of limestone quarries in Mediterranean climate

The recovery of limestone quarries in the Mediterranean climate is an extremely difficult case of ecological restoration, both scientifically and technically. This document brings together the expertise of the authors over the past 20 years of experience in this area through various projects sponsored by companies in the sector, regional administrations and national research plans (in Spanish).

A group of CBA members with some colleagues of CERENA  participated in the IUFRO Landscape Ecology International Conference, dedicated to study Forest Landscapes and Global Change: New Frontiers in Management, Conservation and Restoration, that was held in Brangança, Portugal in September 2010.

Actividades Pedagógicas na SECIL

De 19 a 30 de Julho de 2010, o CBA/ESFE participou nas actividades pedagógicas e visitas realizadas nas instalações da SECIL – Outão, no âmbito do Ano Internacional da Biodiversidade. Estas acções, destinadas a um público entre os 8 e os 14 anos de idade, foram desenvolvidas pelo CTEC – SECIL em colaboração com a REMLI, FCUL e UE.
